Die Romanvorlage von Morton Rhue basiert auf einer wahren Geschichte, einem Experiment dass 1967 in den Vereinigten Staaten tatsächlich durchgeführt wurde und aufzeigt, wie durch entsprechende Propaganda im Prinzip (fast) jeder Mensch in einen Hitlerjugend-Roboter verwandelt werden kann.
